Interesting Products for the Model "A" Ford

Nu-Rex Cams, Switches, & Alternators

The folks at Nu-Rex continue to design and produce innovative products to improve and optimize Model "A" performance. According to company owner Bob Gay, "The emphasis at Nu-Rex is on quality control-producing uniform parts that perform consistently in their intended application. We're also committed to upgrading and improving our products to offer the best in Model "A" ignition, timing, and charging system products."

In this edition of "What's New...", we'll take a look at three of the latest Nu-Rex offerings: Distributor Cams, Ignition Switches, and their up-graded alternators equipped with the new Max-R Pulley.

Distributor Cam
Produced using space-age machining technology, the Nu-Rex Cam design maintains the original Model "A" cam/ point relationship for proper lift, duration, and spark timing.

Based on the Model "B" profile, the cam is treated for anti-corrosion protection and abrasion resistance, and is shipped with a protective plastic coating (arrow).

Ignition Switch
The Nu-Rex Ignition Switch is identical in appearance to the original "pop-out" in the extended position, although it does not provide the "pop-out" motion.

Constructed of American made components, the on-off assembly mounts exactly the same as the original and operates with a distinct "detent" action. The switch can be used with any of the armored cable or wiring configurations available for the Model "A" and is a perfect complement to the Nu-Rex Transistor Ignition System1.

Alternators with Max-R Pulley
Upgraded from their original product, all Nu-Rex alternators are now equipped with the re-designed Max-R Pulley (see photo).

Driving the alternator at three times engine speed, the new pulley enables the alternator to continue charging down to idle speeds and reduces initial alternator "turn-on" RPM.

While the Max-R Pulley is not available separately, Nu-Rex continues to offer their Hi-Speed Pulley2 which can be used to retrofit alternators equipped with original installed "slow speed" pulleys.
